B-School Interview Prep Series : IIMs too want you, to build their brand value…

IT IS NOT JUST ASPIRANTS WHO WANT GOOD INSTITUTIONS,

INSTITUTIONS ALSO WANT PURPOSEFUL STUDENTS TO FURTHER THEIR BRAND VALUE. THATS HOW THEY BUILT THEIR REPUTATION….Taking the best, year after year, IIM A, B, C , L and now K and I have built their brands….

Idea of writing this article struck me just a while ago, as I was reading a discussion in one of the IIM aspirant telegram groups of 2022, this morning, where one aspirant was pulling the leg of another who is an AIFF certified coach too, asking him tauntingly, “Hey bhai, why are you not getting into soccer coaching full time, instead of trying to get into IIMs….”

Every year, a few sports crazy youth with a deep purposeful clarity of impacting sports management, health, wellness of humanity, do prepare thoroughly and leave the IIM Interview panels flabbergasted with their purpose of life, vision 2050, 2030 and meticulous planning of their path of progression and execution details.

And they engage the interview panel with clarity, rolling back their Vision 2030 to current context, articulating how their journey of next two years through the IIM will energize their onward journey…

Is dreaming of becoming the CEO of Manchester United or Chennai Super Kings any less than being a CEO of any business corporate? These sporting houses are multi-billion dollar businesses and they also impact positively, mental, emotional and physical being of large swathes of humanity!!

Is becoming the next Harsha Bhogle (an IIMA alum, commentator, entrepreneur, motivational speaker, quiz master), who shall continue to shine for next 30 more years, any crime? NO!

Dream big, as Harsha says, the key to excellence and success lies in your outlook, Attitude and work ethic.

Let me share that, every year, there are many many who arrive at their own purpose and vision for life through attitude and work ethic, and with that conviction, inspire the IIM Interview panels and sail into their dream B-school!

How does it happen? through personal mentoring that they receive through seasoned mentors of eminence, at various CL Centres, who themselves are on their path to realizing their own infinite potential. In the process they facilitate youth to realize theirs.

All this happens, every year, under the program called Personality Development Program (PDP PDP Personalized) of CL, which is a trade-mark program of Career Launcher. This program is all about facilitating an individual evolve into a purposeful, passionate, persevering person who knows what he wants out of his own life. This program any way facilitates you to crack your mundane goal of cracking GDPI. Helps you go beyond the goal of, “Kisi tarah main IIM mein ghus jaoon”, “Somehow I have to enter the IIM”.

Since the aspirants gain confidence through mentoring, in their own capabilities and skill-sets, in what they love to do, what they are good at, during PDPP they create their purpose for life, their IKIGAI, and prepare so thoroughly that the interview panels are left with no choice but to invite them to be part of the institution for the next two years.

You will find many stories here, on this very website of mine, of youth who have created their purpose of life and conviction, and went to conquer the IIMs, XLRI…and there on conquered the world too…

CL can proudly list as its alum, a few hundred CXOs of today, who have been in the classrooms of CL in 1990s and 2000s, who all identified their purpose of life during the PDP program at CL, and went on to chase their dreams and make it happen.

Click here to read about a few FINAL CALL GETTERS whose stories are there in the list, as they share how they went about working on arriving at their Purpose of LIFE, Vision and how they converted their IIM / XLRI / FMS interviews..

So, pull yourself up, before you try to pull someone else down! Why pull another down, ever? You elevate yourselves!!

God bless!
