This is Crisis of Civilization : Sri Kailash Satyarthi, Nobel Laureate – interaction with Prasoon, SPIC MACAY

NOTE by Sreeni: While Kailash ji was speaking, I just went on typing, the way I document, any interaction. So, at times, it looks like just a point and not elaborated. Kindly bear with me. In the end everything will fall into its place.

The COVID brought about such a huge calamity on the humanity.

The struggles of the migrants, marginalized is there for everyone to see.

It is nothing less than loss of trust on humanity and government.

These migrants are in a very sad state of affairs

Children walking with parents hundreds of kilometers to their homes, collapsing for water and food. Youth carrying their elderly for hundreds of miles

Many children locked in the mines in south Africa and elsewhere.

In many places, the factories were closed, children were stuck inside. The owners ran away.

Many girls and women are pushed into the flesh trade in Thailand.

Refugees in Jordan, Syrian refugees, in turkey, they are victims of the situation.

This is the crisis of civilization.

varieties of civilizations…. A common thread

  1. Collectivism
  2. Collective thoughts and ideas
  3. Collective desire of existence
  4. Evolution of states
  5. Pursuit for freedom
  6. Learning to live with each other

Post cold-war was only driven by market economies, democracies, technology all creating big chasm

The foundations of human civilization are in danger. Economies have slowed down. In a few years there will be disaster.

What will happen to those hundreds and thousands who have lost faith, confidence in the collective?

Many students are already excluded by the economy. The accumulation of wealth, technology, political power that have been promoting consumerism and making money.

The economic inequality is the economic violence.

We need to address those issues now.

Human rights – human dignity

Governments are fighting a war against corona. People have to depend on their leader. The supreme commander will dictate his or her terms. This is the time, the combo of industrialists and state authorities will push for shrinking of laws, labour rights. In some countries, there will be amendments in the constitution, that will not even be visible.

Shrinking of human rights and economic development, together will endanger the crisis, crisis of civilization.

Domestic violence has increased at home, during the lockdown.

It will recalibrate the inter-personal relations in their own way.

People are sitting at home, a new work culture evolving. People will learn, that to work from home will be the easiest way. Office buildings will be converted into workshops. Twitter has already pronounced every employ will work from home. Psychological issues will increase. The emotional relationships will change.

That is also going to change the public behaviour. Will not allow us to shake hand, hug… civilization will change. We need to look deeply and find solution to the crisis.

Good thing is, Pandemic made sure that we all think globally, we are connected. We all must work together for the solutions. We have globalized markets, production, technology…

We need to globalize compassion. Universalization of mutual responsibility.

The circle has to grow. Let us exercise, as a human being, as a family, as a citizen, to practice, supply chain of gratitude.

Equally applicable in board rooms. Start thinking, make sense, proliferate supply chain of gratitude. Industrial relationships change, trust will come back.

When we live in this age of AI, IOT, Robotics…. Technology, politics, economy everything needs to be compassionate.

“Last person in the society is the most important. When you make a policy, keep in mind and think of the last person of the society, the poorest of the poor, the most miserable and assess if he is protected, if smile can appear on his face, then only go for those policies.”

We must revive it, revisit it. Revive it.

Tomorrow, we are going to launch a new campaign. Laureates and Leaders for children.

Call going to all the state heads…

To be compassionate towards the marginalized, of the loans financial institutions are giving (5 trillion)… one trillion should go to 20% of the population, so that they do not die of hunger, thirst, joblessness, diseases….

Adequate funding is given to the marginalized… Use your mobiles to raise your voices, to make sure not child is left out.
