Children Children Everywhere…
Hardly anyone to care !
One can see them in hoards on the roads,
winding through the traffic at the signals,
touching or knocking at you,
begging to have a note or two,
young girls carrying another young ones,
telling all the stories that they only can,
refusing to take bananas or biscuits,
insisting only on you dishing out cash,
Leaving me wondering, who are those,
that are really controlling these young wonders !!

Children Children Everywhere…
Hardly anyone to care,
Oblivious to what is happening around them,
Pappu, pinky, Lallu, ….gudiya,
are in their own world of joy and merriment,
happy playing, teasing, caring and sharing; or
getting ready for their world of survival,
quarreling, pulling, fisting and bruising,
with the elders out to gather a fair squire meal every day,
these promising jewels are left to fend themselves all the way,
in the squalid surroundings of the juggis and jhopris,
that are far cry from the basic needs;

Children Children Everywhere…
Hardly anyone to care,
Only you have to give a little bit more time,
to see what they are upto, even in such a grime;
watch the flurry of the activities chintu will get into,
when the water tank arrives at his colony,
the first one to climb on the top of the tank,
to insert the hundred conduits that downloads water; or
Pappu manning that street corner chai-ka-dukaan,
when the lala is gone to his makaan;
ingenuity everywhere, waiting to be cared,
nurtured and blossomed;

Children Children Everywhere…
Hardly anyone to care,
what am I doing, running running all the time,
not even knowing which direction and where,
Can I pause a moment and spare a little,
to think what value could I be of.
Yes, I can make a difference to people around,
and to myself too… in the true sense,
If Only I emerge out of my world of
I, me, Myself !

Children Children Everywhere…
Let us help him to be a learner,
stoke her curiosity and ingenuity…
instill a few humane values that can
make the child a better citizen of tomorrow
